Troubleshooting Tellspin Reminders Not Working

Symptoms

You've configured a reminder for a Tellspin schedule, but it doesn't post to the designated channel at the scheduled time. You may see an error message from Tellspin in your DMs, or the reminder might fail silently.

Common Causes and Fixes

Here are the most common reasons a reminder might fail and how to resolve them.

Cause 1: Tellspin App Not in Channel

For Tellspin to post a message in a channel (especially a private one), it must be a member of that channel.

Resolution:

1. Go to the Slack channel where you expect the reminder to be posted.

2. Type /invite @Tellspin and press Enter.

   

3. You should see a message confirming that Tellspin has been added to the channel.

Verification:

After inviting the bot, you can test the reminder. Go to the Tellspin App Home, find your schedule, click the three-dot menu (...) next to the reminder, and select Test Send.

Cause 2: Schedule is Paused

If a schedule is paused, its associated reminders will not be sent.

Resolution:

1. Go to the Tellspin App Home.
2. Find the schedule in question.
3. If the schedule is paused, you will see a Resume button. Click it to reactivate the schedule and its reminders.

Cause 3: Incorrect Reminder Configuration

It's possible the reminder was configured for the wrong time, frequency, or destination (e.g., set to DM the user instead of posting in a channel).

Resolution:

1. In the Tellspin App Home, find your schedule.

2. Locate the reminder listed under the schedule details.

3. Click the three-dot menu (...) next to the reminder and select Edit.

4. Review the Frequency, Time, and Send To settings to ensure they are correct.

   

5. Make any necessary changes and click Save.
