Migrating Tellspin to a New Slack Workspace

Overview of the Migration Process

Migrating your company's Slack to a new workspace is a significant undertaking. If you use Tellspin, your schedules and subscription will also need to be migrated. This process is not automated and requires coordination with the Tellspin support team.

This guide outlines the steps and expectations for moving your Tellspin configuration to a new Slack workspace.

Can I Migrate Schedules Automatically?

No, there is currently no self-service tool to automatically export schedules from an old workspace and import them into a new one. Each schedule will need to be manually recreated in the new workspace.

However, Tellspin support can provide you with a summary of your existing schedule configurations to make the recreation process easier.

Step 1: Contact Tellspin Support

As soon as you know you will be migrating workspaces, please email support@tellspin.com to begin the process. Early communication helps ensure a smooth transition.

Information to Provide Support

To help us assist you, please include the following in your email:

• The name and workspace ID of your old Slack workspace.
• The name and workspace ID of your new Slack workspace.
• The approximate date of your migration.
• A request for an export of your current schedule configurations.

Our team will provide a list of your schedules, their participants, rotation types, timezones, and reminder settings.

Step 2: Recreating Schedules in the New Workspace

1. Install the Tellspin app in your new Slack workspace.
2. Using the configuration details provided by support, manually create each of your on-call schedules in the Tellspin App Home.
3. Re-configure any integrations, such as connecting to PagerDuty or OpsGenie.

Step 3: Transferring Your Subscription

Once your schedules are set up in the new workspace, our support team will handle the subscription transfer.

1. Inform support that you have finished recreating your schedules.
2. We will cancel the subscription on your old workspace.
3. We will transfer the subscription and any remaining credit to your new workspace.
