OpsGenie
Tellspin can follow an OpsGenie on-call schedule you already use. OpsGenie remains the source of truth for the rotation. Tellspin reads who is currently on-call and keeps a Slack contact method (usually a user group such as @dev-on-call) pointed at that person.
This gives your team a non-incident way to reach the on-call engineer without opening OpsGenie.
How it works
- Connect from the Tellspin App Home with OpsGenie Connect. After a key is saved, the button reads New OpsGenie Link.
- Tellspin needs an OpsGenie API key with Read access to schedules. Write, Create, and Delete are not required.
- Tellspin re-syncs every 5 minutes. The App Home shows the handle, current on-call user, OpsGenie sync schedule name, and upcoming shifts.
User mapping
Tellspin matches OpsGenie users to Slack users by email. Addresses that differ have to be mapped under Edit → Change User Mappings → Edit Users. Guest Slack accounts cannot be placed in user groups; use a Keyword or Channel contact method, or give the person a full Slack account.
Overrides
Overrides made in OpsGenie flow into Tellspin on the next sync. Overrides made in Tellspin change who Slack reaches; they are not written back to OpsGenie.
